Hello ATC Family, I hope everyone is having a great summer. Looks like it’s going to be another hot one. I want to take a few moments to fill everyone in on a few leadership changes.
We will be welcoming two new board members this year. Patrick Pinnell will be our new Membership Director. If you have not met him yet, you can usually find him on our social Friday nights. He is pure joy to play with and has a great, positive energy. We look forward to him being a part of the team supporting the club. Our second newcomer is Jennifer Chancellor-Hurd taking on the secretary position. Jennifer has experience being on the board of other LGBTQIA organizations and we look forward to taking advantage of her organizational talents. If you see them on the court please thank them for their sacrifice as they help the club grow and support your need for community within the sport we all love so much.
I would also like to take a moment to thank members of last year's board no longer continuing on. Without their efforts and support to the club we would not be here today. Austin Miller will be stepping down as his professional life has taken a new and exciting turn. We will still see him around the courts when he has time to show off his wicked serve. Most of you know Daniel and David had a change in life and were forced to relocate to one of our sister organizations here in Texas. Anyone who knows D&D knows it was our loss, but OLTA will be getting two amazingly talented people in their area. If you run across Daniel in your future please give him a shout out for all his work revamping the Austin Tennis Club website. David was our fearless leader when it came to the annual Heart Of Texas (HOT) tournament and has laid the groundwork for the upcoming year. I can't thank them enough for their efforts. We are lucky to call them friends.
We will also be shuffling some board members within the organization. Unfortunately, due to covid, this board has been running as a unit for the past 2 years. To keep us motivated and working hard for you, we have voted to rearrange some of our positions. Our fearless leader Caleb will be moving into a different role. If you see him on the court please take a moment to thank him for his presidential efforts during these tumultuous years. As someone who has served on the ATC board for 8 years, I know it is often a thankless job. He has done an amazing job managing the chaos while getting some great things accomplished. Any appreciation you can show him for all he has done will be greatly appreciated. He is not leaving us but will be dialed into a more specific role within the club. Ken, Ricky, and Erwin were part of the shuffle and Shadana will continue running our books while nursing her newborn baby. I will be leaving the competitive director position and shifting to the acting President.
